About MTC
Mutual Telephone Company was formed in January of 1905 when 150 patrons gathered at Little River City Hall to organize an independent phone company.
Prior to this, there had been telephone service in Little River for nearly fifteen years. According to an article in the March 6, 1890 edition of The Little River Monitor, Messrs. Zook and Keim of Inman were in town installing telephones. The editor noted there was a phone in his office and one in his home and they seemed satisfactory. At this time, residents ran their own lines from house to house in any way possible – some were even strung on hedge posts. There was no central office. The telephones were no more than a box hung on the wall with a bell, microphone, speaker and a six-volt battery.
From these humble beginnings, MTC, has evolved into one of the most state-of-the-art telecommunications providers in our area.
Today, 100% of MTC’s Little River customers are connected to a “fiber to the home” network–the most advanced telecommunications technology available in the world. MTC has also expanded our fiber network into parts of Lyons, Sterling, Marquette and McPherson. Through the fiber, MTC can provide our customers blazing fast Internet downloads speeds from our gigabit capable network. Plus, when paired with MTC’s Managed Wi-Fi service it makes the perfect solution for video streaming. MTC also continues to provide the latest and greatest in local and long distance calling thanks to our Fiber Optic network.
In addition to the services delivered via MTC’s Fiber Optics, MTC can also provide several types of Wireless and Satellite Internet services, as well as Security & Automation to customers in Rice, McPherson and Reno counties.
